Rediscovering your “Why”

My subscription to WordPress renewed today marking the anniversary of my blog which turns 3. I just wanted to thank you those of you who have stuck around with me through the years. This blog would not be possible were it not for people like you!

What we learned along the way?

You cannot expect the same things that gave you success on one platform to necessarily transition to the other. For instance, prior to having a photo blog on WordPress, I primarily used Instagram. On Instagram I could simply share a photo and I would get decent engagement. That isn’t typically the case when sharing a post on WordPress. Truth be told this isn’t always the case with Instagram either as the algorithm for the social media network is more focused on reels and other short video content. This isn’t to say that photography is dead on Instagram, far from it! Sometimes you have to go out of your way to find it by searching out your photography interests, such is the nature of algorithms. it’s still there but you have to go out of your way to find it. In reality though, I could probably devote an entry post to that topic alone but alas, that is a story for another time. I’m still active on the platform but most of my content I create now is made for this blog. Which allows us to Segway into our next topic!

Going forward

I’ve been trying to scout more unique locations. I’m more or less limited to weekends to do these types of shoots. But that’s more of a me problem than anything. Ideally, I would like to expand into doing more portraits photography at some point. As for works of fiction and the like I’ll be happy to share with you once I have something of substance. But for now I’m going to try to catch up on my reading as it’s the best way to spend Sunday nights! If you want to know just ask me the next time you see me!
