The main branch of the river rises from wetlands and cold water tributaries from within Independence, Brandon and Springfield Townships. The Clinton River is 83 miles long and passes through Oakland and Macomb Counties in South East Michigan and empties out into Lake St. Clair located in Harrison Township Michigan.
